Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT)

About AML/CFT

The JACCS Group recognizes the importance of the prevention of money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism. While taking into account differences in the environment among the countries and regions in which each Group company operates, including culture, customs and political factors, etc., the Group understands that the risk of money laundering and financing of terrorism has the potential to become a major management risk. Consequently, as Group policy, we have formulated the “JACCS Group Global Policy on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT).
In addition, based on the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, the guidelines for AML/CFT published by the Financial Services Agency and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and relevant laws of the countries in which Group companies operate, under the leadership of senior management, the Group is working to strengthen its AML/CFT management structure and maintain a sound financial system.

Response of the JACCS Group to the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds

Pursuant to the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, the JACCS Group carries out appropriate checks when handling certain types of transactions, including issuance of credit cards, at the time transactions are performed (identity verification).

Based on the AML/CFT guidelines and FAQ published by the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in addition to matters that required checks under the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, we sequentially carry out checks of changes to customer information that was declared by the customer at the time of the transaction. In addition, for customers who have a Resident Card, we ask them to submit a photocopy of their card, and confirm their nationality, residence status, and the date of expiration of their period of stay.
